HSA/FSA Eligible Services
Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) are a great way to save for and pay for your medical expenses. Both of these accounts are tax-advantaged vehicles for paying for qualified medical expenses. Clients often ask if our services can be paid for out of their HSA or FSA accounts. The simple answer is that some of our services are eligible for payment through your HSA and FSA. The key is that the service needs to treat a specific diagnosed medical condition, rather than be chosen for general health or appearance. At a minimum, you'll need a Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN) from a doctor stating the service is to treat a specific diagnosed medical condition. You typically do not need to submit the letter to your HSA administrator for routine reimbursements, but you must provide it if you are audited by the IRS or if your specific plan requires prior documentation for certain claims.
Below is a list of the services offered by Muse Medical Artistry that may be HSA-eligible.
Weight Management
Eligible only if a physician has prescribed a weight-loss program to treat a specific disease (such as diagnosed obesity, hypertension, or heart disease).
Hormone Therapy
Eligible if prescribed by a physician to treat a diagnosed medical condition (such as a hormone deficiency or severe menopausal symptoms).
Restorative Oncology
Medical treatments to alleviate the side effects of cancer treatments can be eligible, but you will almost certainly need an LMN detailing that the treatment is medically necessary to mitigate the effects of the disease or its treatment, rather than just for cosmetic restoration.
Medical Botox
Botox for medical reasons such as Headaches, Chronic Migraines, Bruxism/Jaw Clenching, facial spasms, TMJ, or hyperhidrosis can be eligible provided that a doctor has prescribed it for that purpose.
